Workshop Update for March 4th, 2013

We continue working on the Bus Pirate kit documentation. Only a few more exercises are left to fully model. The one above uses the breadboard, a ’595 serial to parallel register, and a contrast potentiometer to allow the Bus Pirate the control over an HD44780 LCD. As you can see, lots of wires are needed as well. This is actually an emulation of our Bus Pirate LCD adapter boards.

I got my start in digital electronics (sometime in the late 1970s) with some mail-order course packages. I remember a set of 74HC/HCT digital logic and a bunch of 3-ring binders. I’m pretty sure the course materials did not have anything nearly as fancy as this render!
Whoops, I’m told ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logic_family ) that 74HC/HCT started in 1982. Ok, maybe it was 74LS.
