New TI CC3000 modules
TI has announced the availability of their new CC3000 module.
The TI CC3000 module is a self-contained wireless network processor that simplifies the implementation of Internet connectivity. The module uses TI’s SimpleLink WiFi solution which minimizes the software requirements of the host MCU.
TI has posted information on the BoosterPack, which contains the CC3000 module, power supply, and standard BoosterPack headers to connect to MSP430, Stellaris, and future TI MCU LaunchPads. They also have an evaluation module (EM) board which contains the CC3000 module, and standard RF1 and RF2 headers to connect to many TI platforms including MSP430, Stellaris, and C5000. No IPv6 support makes it a hard sell for me from a purity standpoint. I can understand a desire to simplify the design, but that’s one more device lurking in your network that will stop working when you eventually turn off the IPv4.
I wish this was “available”, I’ve had the evaluation module on back order for a number of weeks from the ti e-store. Just checked and the website again and it is still showing back order.
I’ve got the evaluation module from digikey two weeks ago. Now I’m porting sample applications to arduino.
This is nice, one thing that the video does not mention is what is the KEY part for on the app
