PID controlled electric smoker

Tom built a PID controlled electric smoker. A closed clay pot with a PID controlled hot plate inside heats to a constant temperature. Bits of wood tossed on the hot plate make the smoke.

  1. This is an awesome product that cooks food perfectly. When cooking with the attached meat thermometer, I basically set the internal temperature I am looking for, and walk away with the remote. When the meat reaches that temp, the cooking is complete and the temp drops to 120F to keep things warm. With the remote, I can see what is going on with the smoker from anywhere in my home, such as what the internal temp of the meat is, or what time is left if I am cooking with a timer and not by temp. If you are looking for a great high-capacity smoker for your patio, go with this one. In a week, I have smoked a large chicken and two racks of ribs. Everything tasted awesome.
