Workshop Update for June 12th, 2012

in Workshop Update by DP | 3 comments

Today we renewed websites, including 7400contest.com which is coming up again soon.

We patched an SPI speed error in the Bus Pirate binary access mode.

We had to cancel the company credit cards because 7 unexpected charges to Blizzard (World of Warcraft) and 4 to iTunes showed up today. In the process of checking the accounts we dug up some missing receipts for purchases in quarter 2.

Reminder – Q2 taxes are due the 15th (this week). We paid today via eftps.gov today because we remembered. Eftps transfers have to be scheduled at least 2 days in advance, but they’re free!

Part Ninja documentation has started. We are writing pages to describe the internal processes the Part Ninja goes through to identify the various different parts under testing. We have also added the Bus Pirate v3.6 hardware overview page, to document the changes in the latest release.

I’m a little confused with the 3.6 page
    - it shows a picture of something with curved corners labeled 3.5e
    - the schematic says 3.5 and I think it has the old bug with an unconnected pin 13 on the 4066
    - there is a caption that shows different versions “Bus Pirate v3b (L), v3.5 (R), v3.6 (BACK)” but above it there are 4 boards pictured which looks like V3b, v3a, V3.5, and V4

sorry to be critical, but it’s confusing.

is 3.6 what seeed is selling now?

      Hi Dolabra,

The page is still in progress.
-V3.5e was changed to v3.6 to avoid confusion, but my PCB says v3.5e and I don’t have a production version yet.
-The schematic is old and wrong, we’ll replace it today
-caption is wrong and will be removed.

Yes, since last week v3.6 is on sale.

Awesome to hear about the 7400 contest. I’ve had some nifty ideas that I haven’t had time to fully breadboard… maybe this is the kick in the butt to get those made. Nothing Earth-shattering, but another step forward for me in my electronics understanding and theory.

As for the charges on the cards, I hate that. I was up north visiting my parents a few years ago and had a similar experience. It was compounded by the fact that I was out of town. Hope it wasn’t too much trouble for you.
