Lil Bang – Sound trigger for cameras
Viktor made a sound trigger for his DSLR camera:
Now that I can take pictures of lightning I decided that I also want to be able to trigger my camera with sound.
An op-amp filters and amplifies a microphone signal. The output is fed to a PIC microcontroller that triggers the flash when the sound reaches a certain level. The trigger sound level and shutter delay are set with a pot.

Sorry to nitpick, but will this work for lightning that is far away; sound would take a few seconds to reach the camera, and all the camera would capture is a black sky. But I suppose this could easily be modded to take an LDR/photocell input instead of a mic, and make the cam respond to the flash of lightning.

sorry, for the confusion, another project is for lightning shots, I think its called big bang, on his site. This one is for taking pics of objects colliding close to the camera.
Rohit, Filip: I am the author of the original article. I may have been confusing, probably because of my English… Sorry about that. To clarify: this circuit is a sound trigger and not for lightning.
