    Hi there!

I’m looking for a device to troubleshoot/reverse engineer a USB device’s (USB1.1) communication protocol. Would Bus Pirate be the one that does the trick?

    Cheers!

      Hi,

No, the Bus Pirate doesn’t do USB debugging. A logic analyzer might help, but it would need a protocol decoder. There are some dedicated sniffer boxes out there too. Check out the one adafruit used for the kinek hack for example.

Thanks, Ian. I need to read up on what the device actually does before asking silly questions, ha? I’m guessing it’s tethered on USB1.1 itself and so sniffing the same (speed) protocol would not even be possible. I’ll go read around for sample applications.
    Cheers!
