in firmware, logic analyzer by Ian | 4 comments

Dogsbody released Demon Core v3.07 for the Logic Sniffer with the following fixes:

  • Fixes problem with demux DDR captures causing bogus glitches
  • Fixes missed samples when armed.
  • Ensures the finish-now command works cleanly
  • Minor tweaks to the adv-trigger.
  • A full spec
  • Note: Please be sure to use Jawi’s 0.9.3 release (or newer)!

We released an updated OLS PIC firmware with a few fixes and improvements too:

  • SPI speed increase in v2.6 tested ok with v3.xx Demon core, made permanent
  • Updated to v3.0 to match v3.xx Demon core, this will help distinguish the full speed SPI versions for Demon core v3.xx from low-speed versions for SUMP core v2
  • Fixed Winbond ROM read issue

The wiki has a table of upgrade utilities and update files.

It appears that this uses the venerable SUMP program on the PC side. Is that true? I had done some work on the Java program a couple years ago to allow cursor-based zooming, and a more efficient method of addressing lots of data points. I also wrote some code to allow mouse-based graphical zooming. It was a major re-write of the SUMP project. These seemed to be pretty obvious enhancements. Has ony one done this while working on your logic sniffer?

I will check it out! Good to hear that people are pursuing this project, because it is GREAT.

One of my recent thoughts is to use the ability of the sump project to sum the bit value of channels. This could be used with a high speed A/D converter to create an Oscilloscope.

I will look at the existing code to see how useful my own work might be to the project.
